Hey guys. I have spent the last few days in bed, barely moving, trying to sleep off my dose of man-flu. It’s just like any other flu, except when men catch it, they complain a lot more, apparently. And I finally had enough energy to sit at my computer screen and edit the first round of selections from the photoshoot I did over the weekend at Dragon Image studios with a good friend, DJ Dodzy. Â Being an all-round cool guy, we didn’t want to do anything cliche, which meant nothing involving headphones, vinyl, decks or any variation of the above. Â The photos will be used on/as promo for some upcoming events and I’m hoping everyone likes them as much as I do.
Lighting wise – well, the white shots are done using a combination of 2 mono’s with bounce brollies on the backgroud, which was a white cyc wall. I used a 50″ softbox with my B1600 in behind me as fill, and a 28″ softbox as key to camera left. I then changed it up and used a 42″ shoot through brolly as fill for the last few shots. For the black, I shot against a black backdrop, using two SB units on the backdrop pointing back towards the camera for flare and rim. I moved them about for taste and altered their, and my, height for effect. Key was a 28″ softbox camera left – feathered for some shots to prevent lighting too much of the hand when it was extended towards camera/light.
I think there is a good combination of shots and styles that can be used for a while to come. We’ll have to shoot again in the future.
I hope you enjoyed. More to come…
